IT&E’s players had to work hard as they trailed throughout the first half. Only Lerio and Masga could put up points while Pilot’s Ashburn and Villarin matched their performance with a combined 17 points to grasp control 26-21.

IT&E’s Tenorio found his rhythm later in the second quarter but failed to get the help needed from the rest of the team as Lerio and Masga could not maintain efficiency. Pilot, however, still held its end with Ashburn at the frontline scoring eight points while Santos, Dela Cruz and Tolentino chipped in a few buckets of their own to hold the advantage, 43-38.

But after the halftime break, IT&E’s players seemed to have found their second wind as they returned stronger than ever.

They turned the tables as Joyner entered the floor using his height to disrupt any inside plays made by Pilot’s players and tallied 13 points to give the lead to IT&E. With the help of Viola and Tenorio, IT&E stretched the gap by five points by the end of the third canto.

Ashburn tried to take matters into his own hands to keep Pilot alive but he alone could not prevent his team from falling further behind. Tenorio and Joyner continued to dominate the boards, creating second chance buckets and leading the run with 15 points together en route to an 84-74 victory.

JSN 111, Pacific Marine 83

JSN remains ascendant in the Masters Division as its players bagged their sixth win by vanquishing Pacific Marine.

JSN’s players were quick on the trigger as their teamwork created several shot opportunities. Jarap led the run with 11 points while Wesley, Alegre and Tabora joined in with six points apiece for a 31-10 lead.

Pacific Marine managed to get out of the offensive drought in the second quarter as Isip found his range from behind the three-point line with nine points while Guitas contributed eight. But they could not prevent JSN from building a comfortable 15-point lead.

The lead only grew as the rest of JSN’s lineup chipped in for the extra firepower. Mungcal kept the fire burning with 10 points alongside Ocampo and Wesley’s 12 points combined that eventually widened the gap by 20 points.

Pacific Marine continued to put up a fight but JSN took the win, 111-83.
