Jimin Woo, Seo Hee Lee reach mixed-doubles quarterfinals

JIMIN Woo and Seo Hee Lee reached the quarterfinals after winning two matches in the mixed doubles of the 2020 White-Coconut Classic over the weekend at the American Memorial Park tennis courts.

The pair was given a bye in the first round so they automatically advanced to the next round where they faced Danny Jeoung and Sarka Jambor.

Jeoung and Jambor gave a good fight but Woo and Lee played better and triumphed 6-3, 6-0 to advance to round three.

Woo and Lee had a tougher time this time around as they faced Hannah Chae and Lydia Tan.

Chae and Tan beat Woo and Lee in the first set 6-4. But Woo and Lee bounced back in the second set as they gave Chae and Tan a taste of their own medicine with quick returns to notch a 7-5 victory and force a third and final set.

Both teams gave it their all with back-and-forth action, but Woo and Lee ended the intense battle 10-7 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Also making it to the quarterfinals are Jeff Race and Hoo Wang who barely broke a sweat in taking down Jun Wang and Yebin Shin 6-0, 6-4.

Nason Wessel and Ken Imaya likewise made it to the quarterfinals by besting Robbie Schorr and Eun Been Hwang, 6-1, 6-2.

Isaac Heo and Seiyul Hong bested Landon Pudney and Gary Ramsey 6-3, 0-6, 10-8 while Wataru Kadokura and Brian Wessel trounced Vincent Tudela and Isa Nishitani, 6-2, 6-0.

Takeru Jim and Ken Song beat Martin Jambor and Lina Tsukagoshi 6-3, 6-3; Sam Culp and Juncheol Hwang triumphed against Sunny Kang and Dong Min Lee, 6-1, 3-6, 11-9; while June Yu and Ji Hwan Ryu walked over Simon Tang and TJ Bellama.
