TRIPLE J Payless SuperFresh & Truckload Store in the CNMI received the 2021 Certified Angus Beef International Independent Retail Marketer of the Year award at the Certified Angus Beef Annual Conference held virtually from Sept. 22 to 24.

Triple J Five Star Wholesale Foods General Manager Jay Santos broke the great news to the Triple J team on Saipan, saying it was "an incredible achievement considering the many international grocery operations in much bigger cities that we go up against."

Founded in 1978, the Certified Angus Beef brand is the original, and the best brand of Angus beef. It began when a group of family ranchers set out to create a brand of beef that delivers superior taste and tenderness.

During an annual conference, the International Independent Retail Marketer of the Year Award is given to brand partners in recognition of their leadership in product quality, marketing and sales.

In an interview on Monday, Santos said Triple J "takes great pride in being the exclusive distributors and retailers for the Certified Angus Beef  brand here on Saipan and throughout Micronesia."

He added, "We were thrilled to learn of winning the award as we are up against much larger markets in Asia, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Central & South America. As such, being recognized as Independent International Marketer of the Year from our small, beautiful island of Saipan means very much to the owners, executives, management and staff of Triple J.”

Santos said the volume of Certified Angus Beef Triple J sold at Payless SuperFresh store "tells us that our customers want the very best and it will continue to be our commitment to provide them beef cuts they can trust to feed their family. "

"We enjoy seeing our customer’s smile when they request special cuts of Certified Angus Beef ribeyes or NY steaks that they will throw on the grill to share with friends,” he added. “Soon we will take it further by having marinated meats so customers can take it home or to a party and immediately enjoy the Certified Angus Beef brand. This will include carne asada for tacos, teriyaki kabobs for beach BBQ’s and other types of marinades that will make dinner time easy for our customers.”

 A lot of work went into developing the first real meat department on Saipan and there are so many to thank for helping Triple J along the way, Santos said.

 "Of course, our chairman, Robert H. Jones, is the driving force behind Payless SuperFresh as we all know the retail grocery business runs deep in his veins. Let’s also not forget the late Mike Burgess as he was the principal in putting RHJ’s plans in action," Santos added.

He is also grateful to Triple J Enterprises Inc. vice president for marketing and public relations Kris Lujan, Tina Esteves, Dia Ramos and Lizelle Salanga for the marketing successes of the store and the Certified Angus Beef or CAB brand. "This achievement would not be possible without these ladies," he added.
