THE Rotary Club of Saipan conducted a cleanup drive at the Marpi tourist sites on Saturday as part of an ongoing island-wide environment campaign, club president Marcia Ayuyu said.

The cleanup was held from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the Rotarians collected a total of six bags of trash, she added.

Most of the litter items were soda or beer cans, water bottles, and food containers, Ayuyu said.

“We will continue to go out and pick up trash because we want to keep our island clean for all of us,” she added as she thanked all club members who joined the cleanup drive.

“This activity is for the community and most especially for our visitors and tourists,” Ayuyu said, adding that the club is also hoping to motivate other individuals and community groups to help maintain the island’s cleanliness.
