HAGÅTÑA (Joint Information Center) — The Department of Public Health and Social Services tested 41 individuals for Covid-19 on Thursday, April 2, 2020 with conclusive results. Five tested positive and 36 tested negative for SARS-CoV-2. The DPHSS overall count also includes six positive cases that were tested by the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego.

To date, a total of 82 cases tested positive with 12 patients who have recovered and three deaths.

All 67 remaining cases are in isolation.

As the number of cases grow in Guam, the number of close contacts requiring quarantine multiplies. The Department of Public Health and Social Services is working non-stop to contact all cases.

DPHSS advises that if you suspect you were a close contact to a confirmed case, start your own self-quarantine. Do not wait to be notified by department staff. Stay home and distance yourself from others in your household for 14 days from the exposure. If you develop symptoms of Covid-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell and/or taste), isolate yourself in a separate bedroom and call your healthcare provider or the medical triage hotline at 311.
