THE Rotary Club of Saipan, in partnership with Karidat Social Services, distributed care packages to community members on Monday at the pavilion in San Jose that was adopted by the club.

Club president Marcia Ayuyu said about 180 community members received care packages that contained rice, noodles, canned goods, and butane canisters.

She and the other club members assisted in the distribution, which started at 2 p.m.

“It was very smooth because we arranged a drive-thru distribution,” she said.

Ayuyu said the club donated most of the items while Rotarians Dennis Yoshimoto, Perry Inos Sr., Hiroko Stewart, and Sean Ficke, who is also general manager of Triple J Motors, made in-kind donations.

“We will continue this program because this is one of our ways of giving back to the community,” she said.

The community, she added, has been very supportive of the activities of the organization, including its biggest annual fundraising event, Las Vegas Night.

Last week, the club distributed care packages to community members who were affected by the Covid-19 crisis.

For Tuesday’s distribution, Ayuyu said Karidat provided the club with a list of individuals who would get the care packages.
