THE Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. on Wednesday announced that one of the seven Covid-19 patients has already recovered.

As of May 20, CHCC had recorded 21 confirmed Covid-19 cases, two deaths, 13 recoveries, and six active cases.

The six remain quarantined at Kanoa Resort.

Meanwhile, CHCC and the governor’s Covid-19 Task Force continue to conduct community-based tests on Saipan.

CHCC Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna said over 3,000 individuals had tested negative so far on island.

As of Wednesday, CHCC had collected a total of 3,596 specimens on Saipan.

“It is working really well,” Muna said of the community-based testing initiative. “The numbers are important for us in order to determine the prevalence of Covid-19 virus in the community.”

On Monday, she said they started collecting specimens from Tinian and Rota.

As of Wednesday, there had been 167 specimens collected on Rota and 54 on Tinian.

In an earlier interview, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres said CHCC and the task force are “doing their best not just to flatten the curve, but also to eliminate the virus from the community.  We have been treating this pandemic as a high risk even before we had active cases.”

Like the governor, Muna commended members of the public for complying with the social distancing directives and maintaining proper hygiene.

“Please continue to do those things. It is very important that we maintain them. It is not over yet.”
