SAIPAN Mayor David M. Apatang joins the community in the observance of Memorial Day today, Monday.

He urged the public to take a moment to pay homage to the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom, security, and peace that everyone fervently cherishes today.

He said the fallen heroes sacrificed their tomorrow in protecting and advancing the nation’s principles of peace, equality, freedom, and individual rights. “We owe them our eternal gratitude for selflessly putting their lives in harm’s way to make every person’s life better,” he added.

Apatang also lauded servicemen and women who are fighting and defending to protect and preserve democracy and world peace.

“We will always remember and pray for them and their safe return,” he added.

“To all the families who are still grieving from their losses and trying to pick up the pieces to build a life to move forward,” Apatang said he and the people of the CNMI are “there for them to fill the void they have to endure as they move on in life.”

He added, “We will continue to pray for you and with you.”

The mayor at the same time hoped that the community enjoyed a safe Memorial Day weekend.

“May God bless you and your family and all those we honor this Memorial Day,” he added.
