SAIPAN Mayor David M. Apatang hopes for continued solidarity, peace, understanding, respect, and acceptance among local community members.

“Our disagreements and agreements have been the foundation of our solidarity and growth,” he said in his New Year’s Day message.

This New Year as in the past years, Apatang said he would like to extend his assistance to the pursuit of growth, prosperity, forgiveness, and generosity.

There were a lot of challenges in 2019, but there was progress as well, he added.

He is urging his constituents to create a better and stronger community on Saipan.

“We must allow for a forward-thinking perspective, compromising along the way, and in the end, respecting and accepting the outcome,” he added.

He said the community members’ collective success depends on their shared common goals and objectives, and these include making the CNMI a safe and healthy place to live, raise a family, and pursue dreams of moving forward.

Apatang is hoping that the year 2020 will bring new happiness, new goals, new achievements and new inspiration to the island.

“We wish that every day of the New Year be filled with success, happiness and prosperity for you and your family,” he said.

The mayor also wishes a joyous and happy New Year to families and friends abroad.

“We also wish our partners, the CNMI governor’s office and other government agencies, all the men and women serving abroad in the armed services, the United States Army National Guard, Army Reserve, our federal agency partners, and many others, a Happy New Year!”
