4 arrested for theft in As Lito

(DPS) — On Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at about 2:42 p.m., the CNMI Department of Public Safety received a 911 call reporting a theft in progress taking place along Flame Tree Road, in As Lito. Police were dispatched to the scene.

Responding officers met with the caller who stated that they saw a small group of individuals carrying galvanized pipes away from an abandoned hotel, and toward a jungle area.

Police learned that the witness is a close family member to the owners of the property. The witness stated that he was driving by the abandoned hotel and noticed a suspicious vehicle making its way toward the back of the hotel. When the caller drove around to the front of the hotel, he heard a loud banging sound coming from the back of the hotel on the lower floor. As the witness walked over to the edge of the building, he looked down saw two pick-up trucks parked at the bottom near a man-made trail leading to and from the abandoned hotel. The caller then rushed to the airport to call for police assistance.

Police intercepted four individual who later admitted to removing galvanized pipes from the abandoned hotel, with the intent to take them.

Police arrested Bo Fei Li, Gui Hua Li, Kun Zhai Li, and Zhao Li Fei. All four were transported to the Department of Corrections where they were booked and detained.
