Manamko’ choir visits governor’s office

SENIOR citizens visited Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and his staff members at the administration building on Monday to perform Christmas carols.

The manamko’ choir led by long-time congregant and former band member Jess Pangelinan met with the governor in his conference.

Torres said he was thankful to the senior citizens for sharing their talents and visiting the governor’s office during holiday season.

On behalf of my family, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” Torres told the senior citizens as he and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios provided lunch to the visitors.

Office on Aging Director Walter Manglona expressed his great appreciation to the governor, lt. governor, and their staff “for hosting our elders — they really enjoyed themselves.”

The manamko’ choir has also visited the Commonwealth Health Center and the guest house for the Rota and Tinian patients.

Early Monday morning, Frank and Elvie Dela Cruz and former Saipan Mayor Jose Pitu George Sablan donated gift baskets to the manamko’ and the staff members of the Office on Aging.

Manglona said the manamko’ were “very thankful” for the donations.

We truly appreciate your generosity! Thank you and Merry Christmas!” he told the donors.

A community member, who declined to be identified, also donated cash to the manamko’, Manglona said.
