THE Commonwealth Ports Authority board of directors found CPA Executive Director Chris Tenorio’s performance satisfactory despite challenging circumstances, CPA Chairwoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds said.

The CPA board during its monthly meeting on Friday renewed for another two years Tenorio’s contract as executive director. The contract of his deputy, Edward Mendiola, was also renewed.

In an email to Variety, King-Hinds said, “In evaluating the executive director, the board took into consideration whether or not we have given clear and measurable goals and objectives from which we can evaluate him.”

She said there are so many issues that the board set out to address before and after Super Typhoon Yutu and in doing so, “[we] came to the realization that the issues are far more serious than what we had previously anticipated with regards to our infrastructure.”

She added, “The board finds the executive director’s performance has been satisfactory given [this] set of some circumstances. The executive director acknowledges that there is room for growth and improvement, and we’ve expressed to him that this renewal comes with high expectations.”

She said their job as board members “is to set priorities and to give the executive director and CPA staff and management [elbow room] to act on those priorities.”
