CHIEF Judge Ramona V. Manglona of the District Court for the NMI has granted the request of U.S. Probation Officer Greg Arriola to transfer probation jurisdiction of Ronnie Sanchez to the District Court of Guam.

Sanchez in 2019 was convicted of aggravated identity theft in Texas.

According to the indictment filed against him in the Corpus Christi Division of the Southern District of Texas, Sanchez, from Oct. 28, 2016 until Nov. 4, 2016, bought $1,000 worth of items using illegally obtained debit and credit cards.

The Southern District of Texas sentenced him to two years in prison and ordered him to pay $3,260 in restitution and $100 court assessment fees.

Sanchez’ probation started on Nov. 15, 2019 and will end on Nov. 4, 2020.

On April 16, 2020, jurisdiction over the case was accepted by the District Court for the NMI.

In his request for transfer of jurisdiction, Arriola stated that on June 29, 2020, a petition for summons on offender under supervision was filed after Sanchez admitted to the use of methamphetamine on June 1, 2020 and June 6, 2020, and to smoking “marijuana” on June 2, 2020.

After  Sanchez admitted to the violations, his release conditions were modified to include the requirement that he submit to no more than eight drug tests per month.

The probation officer said Sanchez, on Aug. 15,  2020, relocated to Guam to be with his family, and his supervision term was then transferred to the District of Guam probation office.

On Oct. 11, 2020, Arriola said he received an email from his supervisor regarding Sanchez’ use of meth.

“It was determined that a transfer of jurisdiction should be requested to allow the District of Guam to expeditiously address the violation,”  Arriola added.
