YET another unique class has been added to Latte Built's list of activities. It’s called Class & a Glass and it mixes yoga with a glass of wine.

Conducted by Kerri Bauer, the monthly class is about a sense of community.

“It is bringing together a group of people who want to spend an evening together for a yoga class followed by a glass of wine,” Latte Built owner Derek Cutting said in an interview with Variety.

“Yoga is a restorative and emotional exercise,” he added. “We are combining the movement of yoga with the breezy and free feeling of sunset at the beach with a glass of wine.  It's a workout class with a built-in happy hour with people you already have things in common with.”

Cutting said yoga, in itself, has a calming effect because of its meditative focus on breath and movement.

If you're having a bad day and want to cool off, the class will help release tension and decrease levels of the stress hormone, cortisol, he added.

He said yoga encourages focus and concentration which are great skills to apply to wine tasting so it is a great mixture.

"During our class we aren't drinking during the exercise portion, but if you want to, you can do a Warrior II pose and bend your front arm holding a glass of wine to your mouth. Maybe we'll have to try ‘Class With a Glass’ instead of ‘Class & a Glass’ in November," Cutting said in jest.

The first class was offered in September with around 20 participants enjoying the fresh air and sunset.

“We hope to offer the class once a month,” Cutting said. The next class is set for Thursday, Oct. 22, from  5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the beach near Surf Club Restaurant.

It is advised to bring a yoga mat, water, and a towel.

Participants must RSVP prior to the class by stopping by to either Latte Built locations — Oleai/San Jose or Kagman — to pay and secure a spot or by emailing the instructor at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The cost is $8 for Latte Built members and $15 for non-members.  The price includes a glass of wine.
