Thomas, Chavez top North Trail Run

ABEL Thomas and Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez topped their respective divisions in this year's North Trail Run sponsored by Tan Holdings Corp. on Saturday in Marpi.

There were 90 competitors in the men's division, but it was Thomas who led the pack from start to finish.

The North Trail loop started at the Last Command Post and made its way to the pathway, the Kamikaze Trail, the Autobahn Trail, the Santa Claus Trail, the Banzai Cliff Trail and then back to the Last Command Post.

Thomas finished with a time of 00:52’57.

Taking second place in the men’s division was NMI soccer national team coach Michiteru Mita who was just a few seconds behind, 00:56’42.

 Taro Goto was third with a time of 00:57’44. In fourth place was long-time runner Kosuke Sato who crossed the finish line with a time of 00:58’20 while multi-sport athlete Markus Toves completed the top five with a time of 1:00'59.

Women’s division

In the women's division it was Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez who kept a steady pace  in completing the trail with a time of 1:02'12 to finish first.

The battle for second place was tough, but Denise Myers slipped away with a time of 1:09’10, edging Katarina Obsivanova who clocked in at 1:09’30.

Khristelle Itaas settled for 4th place with a time of 1:09'56 while Lydia Tan was 5th with a time of 1:13'30.
