MEET #2 of the 2020-2021 Public School System/Northern Marianas Athletic All School Cross Country’s middle school division featured nail-biting races as Saipan International School and Agape Christian School vied for the top spots in the boys and girls divisions on Saturday at the CPA Airport Field.

Consistency played a key role in the SIS boys’ victory. SIS did not cross the finish line first but Dong Hyun (William) Lee and Gyu Hyeon Park finished 2nd and 3rd while Casey Chambers and Christian Newman were 5th and 6th to gather enough team points for SIS.

With school-mates Kyle Kramer in 9th place and Peter White in 14th, SIS was numero uno once again in the boys division.

Just a few points behind was Agape Christian School. ACS's Joseph Li was the first to cross the finish line while school-mates Danny Cheng, Peter Peng, and Boxin Chen finished 4th, 7th, and 10th.

Saipan Community School took third place in the team standings with Elija Ye placing 8th; Dwight Crisostomo, 11th; and David Ye, 13th.

Hopwood Middle School did not qualify for the team event because it did not have enough runners, but Charles Guiang, John Quidato and Donovan Javier still completed the course along with Francisco M. Sablan Middle School's Christian Lucero.

Girls division

In the girls division, Agape Christian School was in control as most of its runners finished the course ahead of the competition. Barbara Wang drew first blood to claim 1st place with Serena Chen not too far behind in 3rd. Esther Xu, Ruth Zhang and Jenny Xu then made their way to the finish line in 5th, 6th and 7th places to stack enough points for ACS in the team standings.

Saipan International School came in second thanks to Savita Sikkel who finished 2nd in the individual race while teammates Rebecca Eaton, Phoenix Gross and Hoo Wang came in later in 8th, 9th and 10th places.

Mount Carmel School did not join the team event but Andrei Kaitlyn Chavez still made an appearance with Francisco Middle School's Teneasha Diaz and Nerita Sellem.
