(NMC) — As part of its efforts to build workforce capacity throughout the CNMI, Northern Marianas College is providing infant and toddler care training to the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs-Child Care Development Fund’s program sites.

The focus of the training is to provide educators with the knowledge and skills needed to facilitate the learning process of infants and toddlers. The 70-hour training program consists of five modules: Socio-Emotional Growth and Development, Cognitive and Learning Development, Health and Safety, Group Care, and Culture Family and Providers.

The program sites currently undergoing training are Pure Love Daycare 1, NMIS 1st Step Daycare, Smart Start Nurturing Center, Evergreen Learning, and REQ Day and Night Daycare.

NMC has been conducting this training for more than 10 years now.

“We are glad to partner with DCCA and Secretary Robert Hunter to provide training activities that expand the capacity of our child care providers,” said NMC interim president Frankie Eliptico.

The training funded by CCDF, is a federally funded program whose ongoing quality child care initiative is to support CCDF providers, teachers, and caregivers to increase their knowledge and skills in the care of young children. NMC's commitment to support the professional development of these individuals is to improve outcomes for young children.

NMC’s Community Development Institute is a program that offers specialized courses and customized trainings to meet both the professional development and personal enrichment needs of the community.
