THE Rotary Club of Saipan will hold its inaugural Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3, at Sugar King Park in Garapan across from Gold’s Gym.

Joann T. Aquino, Rotary Club of Saipan’s community service director, said there will be an area at the park designated for each of four age groups — toddlers, 1 to 2 years old; pre-school children, 3 to 5 years old; elementary school students, 6 to 10 years old; and middle school students, 11 to 13 years old.

The toddler group egg hunt will start at 9 a.m. with parents assisting the children.

The egg hunt for the pre-school group starts at 9:30 a.m., for the elementary group at 10 a.m., and for the middle school group at 10:30 a.m.

Aquino said the Rotary Club planned this event last year, but because of the Covid-19 pandemic, “we had to cancel it.”

This year, she said the Covid-19 Task Force approved the Rotary’s Easter event plan.

“We will follow the protocols. We advise all participants to arrive early. They will have to sign and have their temperatures checked. They also have to sanitize their hands as they enter the premises. Everyone must wear a mask,” Aquino said.

Because of the pandemic, Aquino said children are not able to socialize as much and many have to stay indoors for quite a while.

“It's spring break so we want to provide an outdoor activity for the community, more so for families with children. We look forward to a successful turnout and if all goes well, we hope to do it again,” she said.

She added that the Rotarians are also “humbled and forever grateful for the support of various business establishments, individuals and leaders in making this event possible.”
