(TSLF) — The Tan Siu Lin Foundation presented cash prizes to Miss Marianas Savannah Delos Santos, first runner-up Bernadette Horey, and second runner-up Ha’ane Eugenio last week.
Delos Santos, who bested seven other candidates in the 2021 Miss Marianas pageant held on Feb. 13 at the Hyatt Regency Saipan Ballroom, received $3,000. Horey and Eugenio got $1,500 and $750, respectively, while the five other contestants of the Stellar Marianas-organized event — Vincent Rabasto, Toremy Diaz, Naomi Lizama, Richelle Ramon, and Lily Carillo — were awarded $300 each.
“This is a token of our appreciation to all of you girls, for taking part in the 2021 Miss Marianas and getting involved in the pageant’s community activities and for all the hard work you did for this great event,” said Merlie Tolentino, executive director of the TSL Foundation — the charitable arm of TanHoldings.
TanHoldings chief executive officer Jerry Tan joined Tolentino in the presentation of prizes to Delos Santos and company and commended them for accepting the challenge of the competition and embracing the opportunity to lead the pageant’s many advocacies.
Delos Santos, who will represent the NMI to the 2021 Miss International in Yokohama, Japan, thanked the TSL Foundation for the prizes and for its contribution to the success of the pageant. She added that she will use the cash prize for her national costume and evening gown when she competes in the Miss International, which is set for November.
For her part, Stellar Marianas president Michelle Sablan presented the TSL Foundation with a plaque of appreciation for its continued support to the pageant.
Sablan said besides backing up last month’s Miss Marianas competition, the TSL Foundation had earlier committed $10,000 to Stellar Marianas to fund the Miss Universe pageant’s charter fee and allow the NMI to send a representative to the Miss Universe again.
Shequita Bennett was the Commonwealth’s last representative to the Miss Universe, as she competed in the 2006 edition of the pageant in Los Angeles, California.
