SSHS, KHS cadets clean up CK cemetery

ON Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, the SSHS Manta-Ray Battalion teamed up with the KHS Ayuyu Battalion for the Mt. Carmel cemetery cleanup in Chalan Kanoa.

Along with their instructors, CSM Richard Basa (SSHS), CPT James Burke (KHS), and SFC Siruelo Giovani (KHS), the cadets were up bright and early from 8 to 11 a.m. to take the initiative to assist the community.

They were provided with gloves, trash bags, and bottled water. With more than 100 cadets participating, the battalions split into groups and worked hard in the scorching heat while focusing on the proper disposal of weathered wreaths, damaged candles, and other waste materials.

The Manta-Ray Battalion took charge on the right side of the cemetery while the Ayuyu Battalion worked on the left side. Both battalions worked hard together and, ultimately, had a fantastic time cleaning up. They filled two large dumpsters with more than 100 trash bags. The battalions are glad they can give their time to the community and make a positive impact.

Thank you to all cadets who worked hard for this community service.
