“Covid-19 is forcing every American to acknowledge the inequities of our national healthcare policy. This is why we worked with the White House, the U.S. Senate, and Congressman Michael San Nicolas [of Guam] to avoid the Medicaid cliff in 2019 and secure reduced match rates going forward. I commend Congressman Kilili Sablan [of the CNMI] for reintroducing his measure and for the profound benefit it will bring to the People of the territories.

“Disease doesn’t care which part of the nation you live in and neither should federal law. As Americans, we all benefit from federal healthcare policy that helps those with the greatest economic need and without arbitrary limitations.

“This is why I support Congressman Sablan’s measure as a first step. It is why I am thankful to his cosponsors and to President-elect Biden for his prior public support.”
