(PSS) — When the new school years starts this August, 180 middle school students from Hopwood will enter high school.

On June 8, 2021, Hopwood held a promotion ceremony for its eighth graders who chose, as their theme, the following quotation from author Michael Josephson: “Take Pride in How Far You’ve Come, Have Faith in How Far You Can Go, But Don’t Forget to Enjoy the Journey.”

The drive-thru ceremony on campus started at around 10 a.m.

The class valedictorian and Board of Education Academic Achievement Award recipient is Irene Huilin Wang while the salutatorian and recipient of the Commissioner of Education Academic Achievement Award is Jia Ross B. Nicdao.

Awardees

The Hopwood Middle School Leadership Award was presented to Francine Joy D. Ebuen.

The Male Athlete of the Year is Luis Rafael Pelisamen while the Female Athlete of the Year is Rizza Uvero Relucio.

The Achieve3000 Highest Lexile Award recipients are Yu Xin Chen and Grace Mitch Carreon.

The IXL Master Award recipients are Yu Xin Chen and Sunny Ma.

For the subject awards, Koey Pan and Elisha Chelsea Henzon are Best in Social Studies.

Best in Mathematics: Yu Xin Chen and Jenny Lin.

Best in Chamorro Carolinian and Heritage Studies: Jia Ross B. Nicdao and Irene Huilin Wang.

Best in Science: Yu Xin Chen and Rizza Uvero Relucio.

Best in English Language Arts: Yu Xin Chen and Grace Mitch Carreon.

Best in Physical Education: Vinanca Althea Mangulabnan and Rizza Uvero Relucio.

Best in Middle School Leadership Corps: Tyreze Ngewakl and Savannah T. Flores.
