JOETEN-KIYU Public Library will hold a 5K fun run on Dec. 18 at 4 p.m. as part of its 30th anniversary celebration, JKPL Director Erlinda Naputi said.
“Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we’re going to do something different,” she added. “We’re going to do something that’s healthy and fun for the community, and a lot safer because it will be held outdoors.”
She said Ed Dela Cruz and the Run Saipan group will help organize the event.
Naputi said it is not a fundraising activity but community members who want to support the public library through donations are welcome to do so.
“If not, anyone can just join the fun run,” she added.
“We want to hold an event in which people will be comfortable. It can be a family activity — kids can join, and we are also giving away books to participants.”
Moreover, the first 75 people who register will get free t-shirts, Naputi said.
JKPL’s 30th anniversary fun run will start and end in the library parking lot.
JKPL kick-started its 30th anniversary celebration on Saturday by launching retired Chief Justice Jose S. Dela Cruz’s newest book, “The Fundamental Issues Affecting the Northern Mariana Islands.”
