KOROR (Island Times/Pacnews) — Palau is leading the Covid-19 vaccination coverage of the United States Operation Warp Speed, with 17% of the island nation’s population already vaccinated. Palau’s population is 18,000.
For its part, Israel, with a population of over 9 million, has already vaccinated 20% of its population.
In addition to its 50 states, the U.S also distributed vaccines to the Freely Associated States: Palau, the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia.
Palau President Surangel Whipps Jr. praised the Ministry of Health for its work in accelerating the pace of vaccination.
“Kudos to Palau’s Ministry of Health for having dispersed all the first dose of vaccines received to date. Let’s continue to support our Ministry of Health as they work to keep us Covid safe. A special thanks to the people of the United States and Operation Warp Speed,” Whipps said on his Facebook page.
According to the Washington Post, there are 21.1 million people in the U.S. who have partially or completely received doses of the vaccine. The U.S. has a population of over 328 million.
American Samoa, a U.S. territory with a population of over 55,000, has vaccinated 14.8% of them
The Marshall Islands, with a population of over 58,000, has vaccinated 6% of them while the FSM, with a population of over 113,000, has vaccinated 3.1% of them.
