(PSS) — Considered as among the pillars of the Public School System, vice principals from Rota, Tinian and Saipan gathered at Kensington Hotel on Monday, April 19, for a professional development session.
Legal, mental health and other leadership experts shared their knowledge with the vice principals as part of the school district’s ongoing initiative to support the professional growth and success of its administrators and other personnel.
The PSS Office of Student Support Services talked about mental health programs and techniques to help relieve stress. The speakers/presenters were PSS senior director Dr. Yvonne R. Pangelinan, instructional technology director Dr. Bobby Cruz, behavioral and mental health expert Dr. Jennifer Maratita, Frank Lee Borja and Walter Mendez.
PSS legal counsel Tiberius Mocanu and Office of Public Auditor counsel Ashley Kost talked about the Code of Ethics and fielded questions regarding professional conduct, ethical principles and standards, among other related subjects.
For their part, education officials honored and recognized the vice principals’ contributions to the overall success of the school district.
In separate remarks, Commissioner of Education Dr. Alfred B. Ada, Associate Commissioner for Administrative Eric Magofna, Board of Education Chairman Andrew L. Orsini and BOE member Antonio L. Borja commended the vice principals for ensuring the success of the CNMI’s 20 public elementary, middle and high schools as well as their students.
