(Press Release) — Sherman Consulting, based out of Tinian, CNMI, was recently certified as an official HUBZone entity by the United States Small Business Administration.
The HUBZone program was created for small companies that operate and employ people in Historically Under-utilized Business Zones. As a HUBZone-certified business, Sherman Consulting LLC is eligible to compete for the program's set-aside U.S. federal contracts and receive a 10% price evaluation preference in full and open contract competitions.
"The HUBZone certification strengthens our capabilities to compete on an adjusted playing field which favors businesses that do business in our region," says Phillip T. Mendiola Long, CEO of Sherman Consulting. "It is our hope that this HUBZone certification, brings value to both federal agencies and prime contractors as they can see what ‘local’ companies can accomplish at the same or at a higher level than our U.S. mainland competitors. We're proud to be certified by the SBA HUBzone program and to be a part of ‘localized’ job creation in this economically challenging part of the Western Pacific region."
The CNMI currently has only 13 HUBzone Certified firms, with Mendiola-Long's Sherman Consulting along with his other company Tinian Fuel Services Inc. being the only two certified on Tinian.
