"YOU are braver and stronger than your fears and your own doubts,"  Victoria Deleon Guerrero, the keynote speaker of Mount  Carmel School's 69th Commencement Ceremony, told the Class of 2021 on Saturday at the cathedral.

MCS’ director of institutional development  and an AlumKnight herself, Deleon Guerrero noted how the graduating Knights got through a super typhoon and are still getting through the Covid-19 pandemic, "all the while being amazing and promising young men and women."

She congratulated and thanked the graduates "for making the first full-school year during this pandemic as wonderful as you."

The class valedictorian, Victoria Nicole M. Santos, noted that their  senior year "started off rocky with twice-a-week Zoom classes."

"But look where we are now. We're having an actual face-to-face graduation ceremony," she said in her valedictory address.

She also noted how crazy it was seeing so many things changing in 10 months, but "our class managed to make history…. No one's doing it like us, man. Senior year was tough, but again I'm so grateful to have suffered with you guys, because at least, we suffered together."

Santos also received awards in Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Theology, Computer Science, Speech and an honorable mention in English Language Arts.

The Class of 2021 salutatorian is Katherine S. Avendaño-Woodruff. She  received  awards in English Language Arts, Art, an honorable mention in Science, an honorable mention in Social Science, and an honorable mention in Computer Science.

In her address, Avendaño-Woodruff  thanked MCS for providing her with a “stellar education.” At MCS, she added, “I found people that changed my life.”
