THE teamwork of Ian Lubao and Jerry Tan was the key to their victory against Alfred Baek and Noah Lee on the first day of the TakeCare Badminton Open Tournament at Ada gym.
In the first set of the C Men's Doubles match, Lubao and Tan made quick work of their opponents with a handful of smashes while returning each attack that was thrown at them to triumph 21-11.
The second set was no different as their tough defense and aggressive offense simply overpowered Alfred and Noah, 21-9.
In their A Men's Doubles match, Nate Guerrero and Dan Macario defeated Jordan Pangilinan and Joseph Torres. It was a fairly even match with both teams giving it their all.
However, in a game of speed and power, Nate and Dan reigned supreme to clinch the first set 21-14.
In the second set, Jordan and Joseph stepped up their game, but Nate and Dan managed to stay on their toes and slipped away with a 21-19 victory.
The results of the other matches: Windy Fernandez and Hannah Choi thumped Miles Guerrero and Jaja 21-6, 21-10; Lucelle Lampera and Ella Serrano outplayed Anneth Ta and Shirley Kim 21-14, 21-12; Yoko Borja and Malou edged Leng Peraja and Jen 21-19, 21-18; Min Hee Oh and Hajin Oh routed Eydie Uy and Jorge 21-8, 21-9; Lance Gallardo and Cris Hillario outlasted Allan and Hapi Gabriel 21-16, 21-11; Alvin Alvarez and Eric Pena took down Patrick Fieldad and Sefric Veloria 21-18, 21-7; and Nap Balingit and Perry Li won by default against Thomas and Patjake.
