THE Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation successfully hosted a fundraiser for the 2022 Micronesian Games with 60 individuals participating in the Michelob Ultra 4-Mile Run for Taste and Pokka 4-Mile Sunset Run on Saturday.

Starting at the Garapan Fishing Base, the route covered a four-mile stretch with the turnaround point on Beach Road across from the CNMI Army Recruiting Center and back to the Garapan Fishing Base.

In the Michelob Ultra 4Mile Run for Taste, well-known runners Shuji Kuroda and Lily Muldoon topped their respective divisions.

Kuroda was first in the men's division clocking at 00:24:05 and was followed by Run Saipan president Edward Dela Cruz Jr. who crossed the finish line at 00:27:37.

 Michael Deneven came in third at 00:287:53.

Kuroda went home with one case of Michelob Ultra, Michelob Ultra gear, a three-month membership at Latte Built, one beach chair, and $50 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

Dela Cruz’s prizes were one case of Michelob Ultra, a two-month membership at Latte Built, one beach chair, and $25 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

Deneven received half a case of Michelob Ultra, Michelob Ultra gear, one-month membership at Latte Built, and $25 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

Women’s division

In the women's division, Lily Muldoon was numero uno with a time of 00:27:44 and was followed by Run Saipan vice president Jenny Kong,  00:33:03; and Lydia Tan, 00:37:03.

Muldoon took home a case of Michelob Ultra, Michelob Ultra gear, three-month membership at Latte Built, one beach chair, and $50 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

Kong won a case of Michelob Ultra, two-month membership at Latte Built, one beach chair, and $25 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

For her part, Tan received half a case of Michelob Ultra, Michelob Ultra gear, one-month membership at Latte Built, and $25 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

Top three

In the Pokka 4-Mile Sunset Run, male division, Dev Bachani took the top spot with a finish time of 00:27:04. His prizes were a case of Pokka Juice, three-month membership at Latte Built and $50 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

Cody Shimizu finished second at 00:28:10 and took home a case of Pokka Juice, two-month membership at Latte Built, and $25 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

 In third place was Ruben Guerrero with a time of 00:29:08. He brought home a case of Pokka Juice, one-month membership at Latte Built and $25 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

In the female division, Tiana Cabrera took the top spot by clocking 00:30:23. She received a case of Pokka Juice, three-month membership at Latte Built and $50 in Taste of the Marianas tokens.

Maya Shimizu, who finished second with a time of 00:57:17, took home a case of Pokka Juice, two-month membership at Latte Built, and $25 in Taste of the  Marianas tokens.

In an interview, NMI Basketball Federation athlete Sylvina Simram said their organization is hoping to have as many sponsors as possible for the Micronesian Games which will be hosted by the Marshall Islands next year.

“We are also training and preparing for the Micronesian Games,” Simram added.
