ROSEMARIE Chisato, 45, celebrated the new year by achieving her year-long goal to participate in local running events.
It was in January 2021 when she decided to improve her health and change her lifestyle by joining Run Saipan.
Since then, she has never missed a Run Saipan event, including the 5k underground races held every month in 2021. (The only running event she missed last year was the annual Turkey Trot Run hosted by Northern Marianas Athletics.)
“I decided to go through this commitment for my general health, my mental health and general well-being — I want to feel good and to remain fit. I enjoy doing it,” Chisato told Variety.
“I feel very proud of myself and I feel healthier and stronger than before,” she added.
On Saturday, Chisato and running partner Noel Altamirano claimed the number one spot in the Mixed Relay Division of the 6th Saipan Duathlon with a time of 01:13:21.
An employee of Paris Croissant Bakery, Chisato expressed her appreciation for Run Saipan and its president Edward Dela Cruz Jr. “for helping me stay motivated and focused on running. They also helped me improve my running performance and, most important, they helped me gain new friends.”
She added, “I also want to thank my husband Ron for being my #1 supporter.”
Asked if she will continue participating in running events, Chisato said, “Right now, I'm still enjoying it and I will keep going until my heart tells me to stop.”
