SHERLYN Jones won the March Ace of the Month Tournament of the CNMI Women's Golf Association on Saturday, March 13, at the LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort, East Course.
Compared to last month's tournament at Coral Ocean Golf Resort, the event at LaoLao proved to be tougher, but that did not stop Jones from claiming yet another Ace title.
For the first three holes of the front nine, Jones struggled, scoring a double bogey and two bogeys. Fortunately, she managed to adjust her swing and improved her odds with three pars and one birdie at hole #5 for a gross score of 41.
Although Jones did not go under par on the back nine, she performed well enough to again score a gross of 41 for a total score of 82. Aided by a handicap of 9, her net score was 73 which gave her first place and her second consecutive Ace title.
Taking second place was Emi Okazaki with a net score of 77. She had a tough time as she closed the front nine with a gross of 48 and a gross of 58 on the back nine for a total gross of 106. However, her handicap of 29 gave her a net score of 77, good enough for second place.
Filling the top three was Rose Rohringer. She scored a gross of 47 on the front nine and 47 on the back for a total gross score of 96. With a handicap of 14, her net score was 80.
The CNMI Women's Golf Association’s next tournament will be a two-day event set for April 10 at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort and April 11 at Coral Ocean Golf Resort.
