TRENCH Tech has reopened its doors to the public and resumed its full-time schedule.

In December 2021, due to the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases on island, Trench Tech shut down.

“A majority of our members now support our reopening,” Trench Tech founder Cuki Alvarez said. “So we are back to our regular training six days a week.”

The schedule includes Coed K1 Kickboxing/Boxersize on Monday and Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on Tuesday and Thursday, adults class from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., kids class from 5:35 p.m. to 6:20 p.m.; adult NoGi Grappling on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Kids Mixed Martial Arts on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by the adult Open Mat from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

“We are enforcing a mask-up protocol and there are alcohol stations throughout the gym,” Alvarez said. “We are also limiting the number of persons to 30 pax max, staff included.”

Alvarez said they are likewise taking temperatures at the door before allowing people to train.

Trench Tech has an indoor/outdoor set up and Alvarez said  they always open their tarps during training to allow the flow of fresh air.

“We encourage all to come train and live that healthy lifestyle you need to fight this pandemic!” he added.

Covid-19 has been a major obstacle for combat sports, but Alvarez said Trench Tech will continue to go head-to-head with the pandemic.

“It always feels great to be open and offer the community a dynamic and fun way to get in shape through our MMA and BJJ programs,”  Alvarez said. “Not too many challenges have kept us down. Whenever something pops up, we always strive to look for ways to solve them.”

Alvarez said they want to host MMA events again in the near future, but because of the current pandemic protocols, it’s hard to invite off-island fighters because of the quarantine requirement.
