THE Tinian Leadership's vision of an underground power line project connecting vital private and public sectors will soon become a reality.

In collaboration with the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation, the Northern Marianas Housing Corporation, and the CDBGR-DR, Office of Disaster Recovery, plans to revamp and rebuild a better and brighter future for the island of Tinian will soon be approved.

The CNMI CDBG-DR Program focuses on meeting the unmet need of the CNMI following the presidentially declared disasters of Typhoon Yutu (DR 4404) and Typhoon Mangkhut (DR 4386). The infrastructure program aims to rebuild and strengthen the CNMI's current facilities to build more resilient structures to withstand future disasters. The CNMI CDBG-DR infrastructure program will allocate funding to the following infrastructure categories: (1) Public Facilities, (2) Roads, and (3) Utilities.

Because the CNMI is situated in the western Pacific, the typhoon belt location, the conventional way of overhead power distribution is becoming costlier as the frequency of major storms has increased in the last seven years. Thus, needing replacements of materials to restore power back to the community.  This initiative will hopefully mitigate those concerns moving forward.

The Leadership extends its deepest gratitude to the collaborating partners, most especially its appreciation to the people of Tinian for their trust and support.
