Hyatt Regency Saipan: Geared to Serve the Marianas for 40 years or more

AFTER the renewal of its land lease to four more decades, Hyatt Regency Saipan renews its vows of commitment to promote Saipan to tourists worldwide and at the same time, be active in building the local community.

“We are here to stay, and we are here to offer more fun, better and exciting things for the community and our guests in the next 40 years to come,” Guillaume Delemarle, its new General Manager said.

During the past 7 years, plans to renovate the hotel were put on hold due to the prolonged negotiations for land lease renewal. The plans include major infrastructure renovation followed by interior design, and internal organizational changes. Since the renewal early this year, Hyatt Regency Saipan is set for a historical revival which is bound to surprise the community in the next few years.

To ensure that the hotel can withstand 40 more years of quality service to its guests and to guarantee that the hotel will continuously be up to par with safety standards, Delemarle said that among their utmost priority is doing life, health and safety assessment within its vicinities, currently undergoing.

According to him, Hyatt is investing $6.2 million for its “Safety and Life First” project where all the hotel’s premises and infrastructures are evaluated, assessed, and undergo major changes if needed.

“It is our top priority before [the hotel] undergoes major renovations in terms of design and additional infrastructures,” he said.

He said the management has already done critical adjustments within the hotel that are essential to making sure that the hotel continuous to be a safe place to stay and to guarantee that whatever development projects will be done in terms of design will be successful in the next few years.

“This hotel has been here for more than half a century and it is our priority and responsibility to ensure that the hotel remains steadfast and safe, functional and comfortable in the next years to come,” Delemarle said.

He added that the management team has already met with various stakeholders and business entities on the island and internationally for the execution of the project for the next two years.

Among the major changes done relevant to safety and life within the hotel includes re-assessing and changing some of its utility sources such as the power generation system to make it up to par with the new technology. The hotel has also reassessed its water systems to make sure that it will continue to offer the purest and most potable water to its guests.

The internet and communication systems were already upgraded to be in line with the demands of this new generation and security systems will be upgraded in the hotel premises Delemarle said.

According to him, the hotel is also looking for ways to integrate solar power in the future as part of its environmental sustainability plans.

“We will ensure that the hotel is up to international safety standards and that is our priority in the next two years,” he said.

“We want out guests to always be safe and comfortable and everything within the vicinity is clean and organized.”
