McDonald’s crew members shine as “Crew of the Year” award winners

The 2023 Crew of the Year recipients from McDonald’s restaurants across Guam and Saipan have been announced, and their stories exemplify the brand’s core values of commitment, customer obsession, and community spirit. In addition to being celebrated at the company’s annual Employee Appreciation Parties, these stellar crew members received a cash prize, an exclusive “Fry Box Icon” award with their name engraved, and special McDonald’s merchandise.

Christopher Cana – McDonald’s Tamuning, Guam “Seeing my growth and potential over the years at McDonald’s is why I am thankful for being awarded Crew of the Year,” beamed Christopher Cana. “This award is a testament that working smart and working hard pays off! I’m grateful to McDonald’s and my managers for supporting me and allowing me to grow in my career.”

For Christopher, the most fulfilling aspect has been training new crew members and strengthening his communication skills. A particularly proud moment was being among the first to roll out McDonald’s “Best Burger” program, which amplified sandwiches through enhanced training to deliver the ultimate burger experience.

Sheryl Mae Amoyo – McDonald’s Harmon, Guam “This job has made me love to serve our customers with an experience like never before, which is the most rewarding thing in this role,” shared Sheryl Mae Amoyo. “I am glad to overcome obstacles so I may grow to be better every day.”

With back-to-back achievements of being promoted to Crew Trainer and then named Crew of the Year, Sheryl Mae has cherished her journey at McDonald’s. “Hard work pays off! I’d like to thank McDonald’s and my peers for recognizing my efforts and growing my confidence.”

Jerriz Castro – McDonald’s Saipan Chalan Laulau “Winning Crew of the Year is a humbling recognition of all my efforts and dedication to my work at McDonald’s,” said an honored Jerriz Castro. “This award motivates me to work harder to see what more I can achieve during my time here.”

Jerriz reflected on the meaningful connections and strong bonds with his co-workers, managers, family and loved ones as the most rewarding part of his McDonald’s experience. Memorable milestones included joining the elite Crew Super Stars group and being promoted to Crew Trainer.

“This company has supported my growth and development, and always provides encouragement for new opportunities,” Jerriz expressed gratefully. “I want to thank McDonald’s for awarding me with Crew of the Year and for recognizing the company’s dedication to their employees and customers.”

Jenny Loi Dagupan – McDonald’s Saipan Garapan For Jenny Loi Dagupan, being named Crew of the Year was an empowering affirmation of her perseverance. “I want to express how thankful I am with McDonald’s for all the opportunities here, starting from day one, and I will continue to do my best,” she stated.

The skills Jenny cultivated, like multi-tasking, patience, and exceptional customer service, allowed her to provide “a one-of-a-kind, special experience for our valued customers.” Seeing their smiles after receiving high-quality service inspired Jenny to work harder to create more satisfied customers who would share that positive experience with loved ones.

“Winning Crew of the Year means a lot to me, because I was able to prove to myself that I can persevere,” Jenny said. “I am so grateful to have learned so much at McDonald’s and I hope to be an inspiration that we can overcome challenges and stay humble.”
