THIS year’s Run Saipan Holiday Half Marathon also featured the AK 5K Fun Run, which was won by high school student Victor Santos and veteran runner Noriko Jim on Saturday morning at  Micro Beach.

Santos was the first to cross the finish line, clocking 21:05 to top  the boys division. Takeru Jim came in second at 21:12 followed by Rex Pixley in third at 21:19.

In the girls division,  Noriko Jim crossed the finish line with a big smile on her face as she clinched first place with a time of 23:29. She was followed by Adalee Taflinger  at 23:33, and Shawna Brennfleck at 25:52.

The age group winners also had their time in the spotlight.

In the U12 age group, Quido Jambor led the boys with a time of 23:13 while Gabriel Walsh (26:08), and Brayden Brennfleck (32:02) took second and third places. Kaylen Taflinger led the girls with a time of 26:11, followed by Leilani Ruszala (29:57), and Olivia Walsh (34:17).

In the U14 age group, Simon Romero finished first among the boys with a time of 25:59 beating Kazuki Kamegai (26:56) and Victor Neil Santos (27:24). Aubrey White led the girls with a time of 32:12 and was followed by Lina Tsukagoshi (36:45), and Alana Hayes (38:53).

In the U18 age group, Christian Newman led the boys with a time of 25:26 followed by Ian Song (25:46), and Jhaylin Cruz (27:01) while Jian Chun led the girls with a time of 29:09 followed by Wang Hoo (36:29), and Mimi Culp (37:34).

In the 35-39 age group, Atkins Kroll Vice President Clark Boswell claimed first place in the men’s division with a time of 26:33 followed by Jody O’Sullivan (29:16), and Kevin Ada (39:39) while Grace Simitara led the women’s division at 32:26 followed by Bridget Basa (39:39).

Rodelo Lagunay led the men’s 40-44 age group with a time of 32:27 followed by Ryan Reyes (35:23), and Jacoby Winkfield (40:48) while Shawna Brennfleck ruled the women’s division at 25:52 followed by Pamela Walsh (34:00), and Rona Reyes (38:24).

Leading the men’s 45-49 age group was Sanghyn Chun with a time of 25:32 followed by Vince Tudela (30:09), and Noel Altimirano (30:28) while Miyuki Ishihara led the women’s division with a time of 31:00 followed by Xinmei Yarbrough (31:33), and Elizabeh Culp (37:34).

For the 50-54 age group, Ronaldo Quindoza went solo in the men’s division with a time of 41:35 while Leonora Abuy finished first in the women’s division with a time of 40:11 followed by Elizabeth Church (43:25), and Demaree Michelau (44:44).

The men’s 55-59 age group was led by Nick Muna at 40:37 followed by Kraig Church (43:25), and Andrew Estepa (44:44) while Imee Altimirano led the women’s division with a time of 39:33 followed by Len Bernardo (45:29), and Esther Muna (1:01:11).

In the 60 and above age group, Steven Pixley led the men’s division with a time of 27:04 followed by Moises Santos (59:12) while Marie Sablan led the women’s division with a time of 35:35 followed by Meribeth Babauta (39:54), and Emma Santos (42:55).

Thirty-five runners joined the half marathon while 137 participated in the 5K Fun Run.
