Receiver: IPI liquor to be auctioned in December

TIM Shepherd of Clear Management LLC, the court-designated receiver, told Variety that they will auction off over 6,000 bottles of Imperial Pacific International’s cognac, Scotch, whiskey, gin, vodka, rum and other spirits in early December.

“A website will be launched this week with all those details. Bear in mind there are tens of thousands of items to sell so it will take a while to catalogue and promote them,” Shepherd said.

“First up will be the liquor in early December. Please wait for the notice which we will send,” he added. For more information, go to https://www.saipanauction.com

Clear Management, through attorney Michael White, has filed a liquor inventory, among other documents, in compliance with the court order on Oct. 23, 2023, which required the receiver to “perform a thorough inspection to locate all of IPI’s personal property…[and] create an inventory of all specific items in IPI’s possession that it believes are subject to the Writ [of execution and] that it intends to sell.”

White said the receiver has completed the inventory for IPI’s liquor, and compiled a master list of artworks, computers, décor, employee lockers, employee lounge equipment, food and beverage supplies and equipment, tables and chairs, maintenance equipment, office equipment and supplies, security equipment, sewing equipment, tools list, and uniforms.

The receiver listed a total of 6,458 liquor bottles to be sold at auction.

Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona of the District Court for the NMI, for her part, granted the motion of former IPI employee Joshua Gray to provide Clear Management Ltd. with the key to IPI’s liquor vault.

IPI’s former director of operations, Gray successfully sued the company for racial discrimination and wrongful termination.

Represented by attorneys Aaron Halegua and Bruce Berline, Gray was awarded by the federal court a total of $5.68 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

After the court allowed Gray to participate in the receivership proceedings, he applied for a writ of execution, which the court granted.

The writ applies to IPI’s vehicles, liquor, crystal dragons, computer hardware, furniture and equipment, including casino-related and security equipment as well as other non-exempt personal property that will be sold at auction to satisfy judgment.
