THE training conducted by the Department of Public Safety K-9 Units in a public area on Thursday morning alarmed some members of the community who witnessed it.
They sent Variety a video recording of what appeared to be a police officer being “arrested” on Beach Road in San Antonio after a “brief chase.”
But according to DPS public information officer Sgt. Fred Sato, the “incident” was part of a “K9-unit training.”
In a press statement, DPS said: “We would like to inform the general public that no officer is being formally charged or arrested for any crimes. The video circulating on social media is that of a plain-clothes detective playing the role of a suspect in the training.”
