Commerce Secretary Remy Mafnas speaks during a “collaborative dialogue” organized by the Marianas Business Network at Pepoy’s Restaurant on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.
COMMERCE Secretary Remy Mafnas said her department is in the process of procuring online software that would allow residents to file corporate documents electronically.
In her remarks during a “collaborative dialogue” organized by the Marianas Business Network at Pepoy’s Restaurant on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, Mafnas said a request for proposals is “active” and that the deadline to submit a proposal is March 14.
“Procurement and Supply is now accepting bids to procure the software program for the corporations so that way you would eliminate traffic,” she said. “You can just file your reports or anything involving corporations online and pay online as well.”
She said there is also a pending measure in the Legislature that would amend Public Law 21-37, which allowed Commerce to impose higher fees.
Mafnas said the law was enacted in 2019 to raise fees that had not been modified since 1990. She said the bill before the Legislature would remove the $10 per day fee imposed on corporate annual reports filed after March 2. It would also remove the $5 per day fee imposed on non-profit corporations that likewise filed past March 2.
