On May 28, 2025, the Rota Legislative Delegation honored the 2025 Dr. Rita Hocog Inos High School Mock Trial Team with Resolution 24-03.

THE 24th Rota Legislative Delegation proudly presented RLD Resolution No. 24-03 to the 2025 Dr. Rita Hocog Inos  Junior/Senior High School Mock Trial Team in a special recognition ceremony held this week, honoring the students for their remarkable achievements at the 2025 CNMI High School Mock Trial Competition.

The resolution, introduced and adopted by the delegation, celebrates the RHI Mock Trial Team’s second-place overall finish and their receipt of the Best Professionalism Award, along with numerous individual accolades earned by team members for their outstanding performances.

The defense team was composed of:

•  Student attorneys: Aden Calvo, Rianna Barcinas, and Carlos Calvo

•  Witnesses: Danica Malaborbor, Sayera Sidur, and Kaden Manglona

The prosecution team included:

•  Student attorneys: Aden Calvo, Edward Maratita III, and Danica Malaborbor

•  Witnesses: Kylee Manglona, Carlos Calvo, and John Tacud

The team was also supported by Ashley Cayabyab, who diligently served as the official timekeeper, ensuring fairness and professionalism throughout the competition.

Several team members received special recognition from opposing schools:

•  Rianna Barcinas – Star Attorney Certificate (Saipan International School)

•  Kaden Manglona – Star Witness Certificate (Saipan International School)

•  Edward Maratita III – Star Attorney Certificate (Kagman High School)

•  John Tacud – Star Witness Certificate (Kagman High School)

From among all competitors in the CNMI, two RHI students earned competition-wide honors:

•  Carlos Calvo – Honorable Mention for Best Prosecution Witness

•  Aden Calvo – Best Prosecution Attorney

Rep. Julie A. Ogo, who introduced the resolution on behalf of the delegation, praised the students for “raising the bar of excellence for Rota youth and setting a powerful example of academic leadership and civic engagement.”

“Their dedication, teamwork, and poise under pressure reflect not only their individual strengths but also the strong guidance of their teachers, coaches, and families,” Ogo added.

The Rota Legislative Delegation extends its deepest gratitude to all the teachers, mentors, legal professionals, principals, parents, and volunteers who helped prepare the team for success.

Copies of Resolution 24-03 were formally presented to each team member and school administrators in recognition of the team’s outstanding representation of the Rota community.
