3-way tie in Rocball; Lay Low routs G-sparks

The Teachers — who had sole possession of first place — were ‘juiced’ by team Aim Low.

Aim Low outscored the Teachers in the first set, 13-8. By the second set, Aim Low went into offense and ‘skunked’ the Teachers, 10-0. The Teachers found their rhythm in the third set and had the brief lead, but it didn’t keep Aim Low from ending the game, 10-9.

Team Aim Low dominated, 33-17 overall.

Both teams and Roc It are now in a three-way tie at five wins each.

Give-a-Hoot and Alpha Q are tied for second with four wins and two losses apiece. Just-do-It sits in third place while four teams — Balls of Fury, Dream Team, Geeks, and Lay

Low — are tied for fourth place.

In the hardest game played last week, Lay Low beat the G-Sparks in two of three sets but failed to outscore them in game points. Lay Low won set one, 11-9 and set three, 12-8.

The G-Sparks won the second set by an eight-point margin of 11-3. They led, 28-26 in game points after the third set.

In Rocball’s system of play a team can’t win a game in a losing set even if they outscored their opponents in game points. A team also can’t win a game by winning the final set with the lowest points scored.

The G-Sparks scored the most points and needed one overtime set to win. Lay Low won the third set with the lowest points and needed two overtime sets.

An overtime set is won through six points or a goal — whichever comes first.

Lay Low ‘skunked’ the G-Sparks in the first OT set, 6-0. By the second OT set, the G-Sparks led with a two-point serve and but lost when Lay Low’s Nakashima Nakashima scored a goal.
