Kagman High School team members pose for a photo after winning the boys high school division championship of the PSS-SBL Interscholastic Softball League SY23-24 on Saturday at the Capital Hill baseball field.
KAGMAN High School, which swept the regular season and the playoffs, defeated Rota’s Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr./Sr. High School, 12-8, to claim the boys high school division title of the PSS-SBL Interscholastic Softball League SY23-24 on Saturday at the Capital Hill baseball field.
Right off the bat, KHS scored two runs thanks to Jeremiah Suel III and Joell Borja with an RBI each.
After silencing RHI in the top of the second inning, KHS’s Jon Diaz hit a homerun to retain the lead.
However, RHI bounced back in the bottom half of the inning with a grand slam by VJ, and added two more runs in the third inning to seize the lead, 6-3.
But they lost the lead just as quickly as KHS recovered in the top of the fourth by quickly filling the bases before Suel III hit a three-RBI triple and reached home safely to regain the advantage, 7-6.
Neither team was able to round the bases in the fifth inning, but KHS scored five runs in the top of the sixth, highlighted by Angelo Igitol’s grand slam, to move further out of reach, 12-6.
RHI tried to stay afloat as they shut down KHS in the seventh and final inning, but could score only two runs before KHS executed a double-play to end the game, 12-8, and claim the championship.
