Saipan Mayor’s Office cleans up CK cemetery

(Press Release) — The Saipan Mayor’s Office is busy preparing Saipan’s largest cemetery for this year’s All Souls and All Saints Day commemorations.

The mayor’s staff have begun the process of clearing, debris, and trash removal around grave sites and access areas around the Chalan Kanoa cemetery.

The mayor is also calling upon our community to assist his office in cleaning and beautifying the cemetery. This is a chance for residents to clean up the cemetery in a way they wish to honor their departed family and friends with the assistance of the mayor’s staff.

“We highly encourage members of the community, when they have spare time to join us at the Chalan Kanoa cemetery during this cleanup operation. In these trying and uncertain times, this is a chance for all of us to come together for a common good. We not only work to beautify a sacred area but to honor and remember our dearly departed loved ones,” the mayor’s office said.

Probationers onboard to help

The CNMI Office of Adult Probation has been assisting the mayor’s office in cleaning up the cemetery as part of the probationers’ community service. Mayor RB Camacho is giving probationers the opportunity to do some positive change in our community, restore public trust, and promote goodwill.

The mayor spoke with the probationers, explaining the mission, scope of the project, and the purpose of this partnership and the hope that this experience would help them grow on an individual level to get their lives on a positive direction. He hopes this experience of working out in the community will help open more doors of opportunities for them.

For any questions or more information, contact the Saipan Mayor’s Office at (670) 234-6208. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The mayor’s office is also open through lunch.
